【Abstract】 The UV spectra of the grinded radix rehmannia during the processing procedure were measured after they were fixed cubage by deionized water, ultrasonic vibrated, and filtrated. The spectral data were then processed by multivariate curve resolution- alternating least squares (MCR-ALS). There are three UV spectral profiles of the components directly extracted from the mixture data, and their relative concentrations are calculated. The results show that the extracted UV spectral profiles can be used to qualitative confirmation of the components in radix rehmanniae, and the end-point of the processing procedure can be determined by the increasing or decreasing tendencies of the components. MCR-ALS-UV method provide an alternative for monitor and end-point determination of the procedure of processing radix rehmannia.
