【Abstract】 Based on the obtained exfoliated magadiite, Layered nanocomposites of Mb- and Hb-magadiite have been successfully prepared under mild conditions. The enzyme activities of the bio-inorganic compsites were studied under different substrates. The results showed immobilized heme proteins had enhanced enzyme activity when o-phenylenediamine was used as substrate. There were nearly 5 and 8 times increases in Vmax and kcat values for the immobilized Mb and Hb compared to that of free heme proteins, respectively, based on the Lineweaver-Burk plots of enzymatic activity parameters’ analyses. The high catalytic activity might be that the immobilized heme proteins had the more proper conformation for o-phenylenediamine than that of free heme proteins. The high catalytic activity would endue the immobilized heme proteins with potential commercial application in biosensors and biocatalysts.
