【Abstract】 The compound Mg(Sal2trien) was synthesized derived from triethylenetetramine (trien), salicylaldehyde and Mg(NO3)26H2O.The interaction of it with superhelix DNA and calf thymus DNA has been investigated using UV spectra, fluorescent spectra, viscosity and CV(cyclic voltammetry). Hyperchromism was observed in the UV spectra of complex in the presence of the CTDNA, and stable fluorescence was observed for CTDNA-EB system with complex addition. The relative viscosity of CTDNA decreased with addition of the complex. And an increase of CTDNA led to a negative shift in potential for both reduction and oxidation CVs peaks. Scatchard plots show uncompetitive inhibition of EB binding to CTDNA. Furthermore the interaction of it with pBR322DNA has been investigated using gel electrophoresis. The experimental results show that the compound can cleavage pBR322DNA effectively.
