【Abstract】 Ezetimibe is a newly marketed anti-cholesterolemia drug developed by Schering- Plough and Merck. It inhibits cholesterol absorption in the intestine. The reported design of new anti-cholesterol inhibitors takes advantage of the squared frame of theβ-lactam backbone by switching the 1 and 3 positions of the β-lactam to create novel ezetimibe isomers.
