Application of flocculation by chitosan for diesel biodesulfurization

【Abstract】 Flocculation of Rhodococcus erythropolis LSSE8-1 from fermentation broth using chitosan and its application in biodesulfurization process had been evaluated. The optimum conditions such as pH, temperature, bacterial concentration and doses of chitosan which influence the flocculation efficiency were determined. And the flocculation mechanism was also analyzed. Furthermore, the LSSE8-1 cells collected with chitosan still have a high desulfurization activity. These results indicated that the application of chitosan was feasible in an effort to flocculate and collect bacteria for biodesulfurization.
