【Abstract】 Objective: To evaluate the planned carotid artery ligation to primary tumour in neck or tumour attachment to the carotid artery through 12 cases who were underwent planned carotid artery ligation from 1996 to 1999. Methods: The reasons of planned carotid artery ligation included false carotid artery aneursyrn in 2 (caused by infection and trauma respectively), carotid artery aneurysm in 2, carotid body tumour in 2, carotid artery lesion invaded by malignant tumour is 5 carotid artery lesion caused by puncture wound in 1; in all 2 cases, there were 4 cases whose lesion was in the fork of carotid artery, 3 cases whose lesion was in the neck portion of carotid artery and 5 cases whose lesion of internal carotid artery was un the base of skull. All 12 cases diagnosed by gray scale ultrasonography, DSA, MRI and spiral CT. All cases’ brain were protected through Mata’s test, measuring carotid artery back pressure and maintaining hypertensive condition before ligation during peri-ligation and their brain were protected through Matas’ test measuring carotid artery back pressure and maintaining hypertensive condition before ligation during peri-ligaiton. Conclusion: (1) Sciagrpahy was the most effective diagnostic method to these cases. (2) Protecting brain during peri-ligation was the key of successful operation. (3) Because of the special neck anatomical structure, the limited length of carotid artery and the lesion whcich lay mostly to the uspide of the carotid artery fork, it was difficult to expose and anastomose internal carotid artery stump in the base of skull. (4)The invaded internal carotid artery in the base of skull happend spontaneous atresia in some cases. (5) The above-mentioned presentation. The clinical application of planned carotid arery ligation is safe. Its indication should be exteded.更多还原
