对偶空间中的普适计算
Ubiquitous/Pervasive Computing in “Physical-Information” Dual Space

【摘要】 计算、通信和数字媒体技术的发展、互相渗透和结合,使得计算已远远超出来传统的桌面计算机的范围。当前迫切需要研究能适应未来信息技术发展的新型计算技术,普适计算就是这个被称为计算技术第三次浪潮的代表。分析普适计算的本质,研究其中的科学问题是把此领域中的研究引向深入的关键。本文指出,普适计算是信息技术发展的必然,其本质能把各种计算和通信设备组织成一个协调系统,使由计算和通信构成的信息空间与人们生活的物理空间相融合,从而构成“物理-信息”对偶空间。在这个融合的空间中人们可以用相对不需要干预或分散注意力的方式,随时、随地、透明地获得计算和信息服务。
【Abstract】 The rapid development and integration of embedded computer, wireless communication and internet technologies make computer exceeded the traditional realm of desk-top computer, which inspires the urgent need of exploring the new computation mode adequate to the future development of information technology, namely the third wave of computer technology. A number of new computation modes have been put forward such as ubiquitous computing,pervasive computing,wearable computing, augment Reality, etc. in which Ubiquitous Computing (Ubicomp) and Pervasive Computing (Percomp) are the representatives. But up to now most of the definitions of those new computation modes are descriptions about their performances, but there are no criteria provided about how to evaluate integrating computers seamlessly into the world. The lack of scientific definition of those new computation modes not only results in the confusion of the notions, but also in the stagnancy of the research by the blindfold hardware and system development. Aiming to the difficulties and the problems with the new computation modes, this paper suggests the new definition and clarifies the scientific issues of ubiquitous and pervasive computing based on the theory of “physical-Information” dual space. This theory of “physical-Information” dual space reveals the fact that nowadays physical space where people living is no long the pure physical space but a share space integrated with cyberspace composed by computer and communication technologies, and further these two spaces are not a simply parallel existing but compose as a dual space. The dual relations in interface level extend the traditional interface of computer from keyboard to the dairy artifacts and tools. Various human activities and events in the physical space can be considered as a dynamic procedure with spatial-temporal characteristics, so that the dual relation in service level is established on the multimodal spatial-temporal stream. The dual relations in systems level are constituted based on environment context, which consists of the information about users, computation and physical environment, history and so on. The dual relations in systems level is the bases for accomplishing the invisible computing. Finally the goal of our exploring the theory of “physical-Information” dual space is to provide the guidance for developing the new type ubiquitous/pervasive computing systems and its applications.
