【摘要】 <正>Just over half of the genes in baker’s yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) have a homolog in 12 other fungi. Almost 1000 of these common fungal genes have homologs in plants, animals and bacteria. These 1000 genes may have originated before the origin of eukaryotes over 2 billion years ago, if we omit the possibility of horizontal gene transfer. Preliminary evidence of horizontal gene transfer to fungi from plants will also be presented, examining the possible transfer of genes from rice to Magnaporthe grisea, and from mycorrhizal plants hosts to Laccaria bicolor.
