1998年夏季南海上层环流与中尺度涡旋观测研究

【摘要】 利用1998年夏季SCSMEX期间在南海获取的大范围ADCP资料,与由南海环流模式计算结果进行对照分析,研究了该时期南海环流与中尺度涡的分布和变化特征.结果表明:(1)南海确实存在多涡结构,调查期间在整个南海域大约有18个比较显著的中尺度涡旋或类似中尺度涡特征的运动系统;(2)在台湾浅滩南部发现一支较强的西向流;(3)114°E经线以西中尺度涡能量显著高于东部;(4)12°N纬线以南的南沙海域中尺度涡多而强盛.南海众多的涡旋分布,反映了南海环流的复杂性.南海海流的生成机制,似乎应是风、海岸线、海底地形、密度、惯性效应和陆架波等因素共同作用结果.

【Abstract】 Using a vast amount of ADCP data which were got during SCSMEX (South China Sea Monsoon Experiment) period in the summer of 1998, and comparing these data with numerical model result, the distribution and variation characteristics of the circulation and meso-scale eddies in the South China Sea are studied. The results show that there are muti-eddies indeed, 18 different scale eddied exist during the investigation, but energy of the eddies in the west of 114°E is much stronger than the east, and lots of strong meso-scale eddies are active in the south of 12°N . A strong west current is found in the south of Taiwan Shoal. The observations and the numerical model results reveal the form mechanism of the complicate South China Sea circulation, that is, the circulation should be affected by wind, coast, bottom, water density, inertial force and continental shelf waves together.
