Rare Earths’ Effect on Ni-P Electroless Coating-the Transition Layer of Orthopaedic Metal Matrix Ceramic Coating

【摘要】 Depositing hydroxyapatite(HA)biological ceramic coating on metal surfaces can obtain a kind of ideal bone repair material.However,the defect is it the combination of the metal basement and HA coating being not ideal due to stress problem.This design in the paper used nickel phosphorus(Ni-P)electroless coating as a transition layer between metal matrix and HA,which is expected to solve this problem well.The focus of this study was to investigate the effect of rare earth(RE)on preparation of electroless Ni-P intermediate layer.The result of research proved that efficiency of the Ni-P electroless plating is dramatically improved when a few of REs are added in plating tank,and La is more effective than Ce.Besides that,this article illustrated positive impact of REs on many aspects of the Ni-P electroless coating,such as microstructure,composition and corrosion resistance.Then the mechanism of Ni-P electroless plating was discussed.Finally the results from tests shown that when the RE element is used to produce the Ni-P chemical plating as a transition layer,neodymium gets best effect of biological ceramic coating preparation,europium takes second place.
