中央凹和旁中央凹视野区信息表征的分割效应:来自汉字形声字的研究证据

Split effects of information represented in foveal and extrafoveal vision:the evidence from Chinese phontic compound characters

【摘要】 中央凹视野区的信息是怎样被表征的已成为视觉单词辨认研究领域一个争论的课题。多年以来,人们认为中央凹视野区信息的表征是双侧投射的,然而,越来越多的研究却在不断地证明中央凹视野区信息的表征可能是功能性分割的。随之,对半球问信息的整合加工也出现了不同的观点,有研究者支持早期整合现象,即信息整合早于单词辨别之前,而有的则认为信息整合本身就是辨认的一部分,即晚期整合现象。对此,本研究以左声右形(PS)汉字和左形右声(SP)汉字作为实验材料,实验一采用命名任务,用指导语方式控制被试注视点位置,而实验二则为真假字判断任务,利用眼动仪监控被试注视点位置。实验a部分,汉字呈现于注视点左右侧<l°(中央凹视野区)和>3°(旁中央凹视野区)位置;而实b部分,汉字呈现于中间注视点处。结果显示,在实验la中,中央凹视野区和旁中央凹视野汉字的加工方式相似:PS汉字,在左视野,低频字是规则性效应逆转,高频字是规则性效应,在右视野,高、低频汉字均未表现出规则性效应;SP汉字,高频字在左视野区是规则性效应,而低频字在右视野是规则性效应;在lb中,高频PS汉字表现出规则性效应,低频PS汉字表现出规则性效应的逆转;高频SP汉字并未表现出规则性效应,而低频SP汉字则表现出规则性效应;在2a中,中央凹视野区和旁中央凹视野均表现出左视野加工上的优势效应;在2b中,高频PS汉字表现出规则性效应,而高频SP汉字并未表现出规则性效应;低频PS汉字和SP汉字均表现出了规则性效应的逆转。实验结果表明,中央凹视野区信息的表征是功能性分割的;右半球是正字法加工的优势半球,而在命名任务中,两半球的加工是均势的;半球问信息的整合会受到字频和半球功能偏侧化的调节,在命名任务中,以一种两半球分布式加工的系统处理信息,表现为信息的晚期整合现象。在词汇判断任务中,高频字的词汇判断可能涉及到正字法和语音(或语义)信息的加工,也需要分布式加工系统处理,表现为信息的晚期整合现象,而低频字的词汇判断可能更多涉及到对正字法信息的加工,以右半球加工模式为主,表现为早期整合的现象。

【Abstract】 There has been a lot of debate,however,about what happens in foveal vision,and what consequences this has for visual word recognition.For many years,projection of foveally presented stimuli was thought to be bilateral.However,an increasing number of researchers have reported evidence in favor of a functional split of the foveal representation.Subsequently,there are different viewpoint over the issue,whether the integration of information happens at an early stage,before word recognition proper starts,or whether the integration is part of the recognition process itself.The experimental material is Chinese phontic compound characters,the experimental lused Chinese characters naming task,the experimental 2 used lexical decision task. In experimental la and 2a,Chinese characters were presented to the left or right of fixation,either close to fixation and entirely within foveal vision(<l°),or further from fixation and entirely within extrafoveal vision(>3°).The experiment results show that,in experiment la,the results of experimental la indicated that,the results were similar between feveal vision and extrafoveal vision.PS characters showed that:under left visual field condition(LVF),the regularity effect was found for naming the high-frequency characters,and a reversed regularity effect was found for naming the low-frequency characters;under right visual field(RVF),high-frequency and low-frequency characters did not show regularity\reversed regularity effect.SP characters showed that:the regularity effect was found for naming the high-frequency characters in LVF and low-frequency characters in RVF: in experiment lb,the results of experimental lb revealed that,the regularity effect was found for naming the high-frequency PS characters,and a reversed regularity effect was found for naming the low-frequency PS characters;and the regularity effect was not found for naming the high-frequency SP characters,and the regularity effect was found for naming the low-frequency SP characters;in experiment 2a,the results of experimental lb showed that,a right hemisphere(RH) advantage effect was found for PS and SP characters in foveal vision and extrafoveal vision;in experiment 2b,the results of experimental lb displayed that,the regularity effect was found for the high-frequency PS characters,and the regularity effect was not found for the high-frequency SP characters; a reversed regularity effect was found for the low-frequency PS and SP characters.The study again provided clear evidence of a functional ivision in hemispheric processing for words displayed to the right and left of fixation in foveal locations.The SFT theory was right.In addition,results reveal that a RH advantage effect was found for orthographic processing.In characters naming task,a left hemisphere(LH) advantage effect was not found for phonological processing,but two hemispheres showed equal processing capability.The most important conclusion is that,the cerebral functional lateralization and frequency regulated together integration of interhemispheric informations.The regulatory mechanism showed that:In characters naming task,the processing of information is serviced by a distributed neural system,showing the early integration phenomenon.In lexical decision task,the processing of high-frequency characters might involve orthographic and phonological processing and also is serviced by a distributed neural system,showing the early integration phenomenon.The processing of low-frequency characters might mainly involve orthographic processing and is serviced by RH,showing the late integration phenomenon.
