结构和特征加工与面孔识别能力的相关研究
The correlation between featural processing and configural processing and facial recogniton ability

【摘要】 成人面孔识别能力的个体差异是很大的,其广度要远远超过我们所预测的范围,其中,脸盲症患者和超级面孔识别者是两种比较极端的情况。有研究发现:个体的面孔识别能力与其组合面孔效应呈正相关,这提示整体加工在个体面孔识别差异中起到重要的作用(Jennifer等,2011;Wang等,2012)。最近有研究发现,不只是结构信息,特征信息也在面孔识别中起到重要的作用(Cabeza,R.等,2000;Hayward WG等,2008)。因此,我们认为个体面孔识别能力的差异体现在与面孔相关的全面能力的提升而不是某种加工方式的优势。本研究同时考察特征加工和结构加工与面孔识别能力之间的关系。研究招募了26名被试,采用old/new范式来测试被试的面孔识别能力,而使用打乱/模糊范式来代表被试的特征/结构加工。其中,old/new任务中有32张学习面孔,64张测试面孔要求被试做出"新/旧"判断,男女性面孔均各半,且学习部分和测试部分都呈现两遍;打乱/模糊任务中有64张学习面孔,测试部分为二选一的迫选面孔对,打乱任务要求被试选出由学习面孔形成的打乱面孔图片(只保留特征信息),模糊任务要求被试选出学习面孔被模糊后的面孔图片(只保留结构信息)。结果表明不论是特征加工还是结构加工都与面孔识别能力之间有显著的相关(打乱成绩与old/new成绩之间的相关系数为r=0.555,p=0.004;模糊成绩与old/new成绩之间的相关系数为r=0.397,p=0.049)。由于打乱/模糊任务采用的是延时匹配范式,而不是记忆范式,可以排除记忆因素对结果的影响,因此这一结果支持了我们先前的假设,即个体面孔加工能力的差异是一种与面孔相关的全面能力的差异。
【Abstract】 Individual difference in facial recognition ability is larger than we expected,such as prosopagnosic and super-recognizers.Some reaserches have found positive correlation between facial recogniton ability and composite-face effect,which suggested that holistic processing is very important in face recognition(Jennifer etc.,2011;Wang etc.,2012).Some recent researches showed that featural information as well as configural information is important in face recognition CCabeza,R.etc,2000;Hayward WG etc,2008).We think it is the face integral ability instead of certain processing way that caused individual difference in facial recognition ability.This research tested the correlation between featural processing and configural processing and facial recogniton ability.26 Chinese college students form Zhejiang Sci-Tech University participated. The performance of the old/new task represented facial recognition ability,while the performance of the scramble/blurred task represented featural processing and configural processing.The results showed that featural processing(r=0.555,p=0.004) and configural processing(r=0.397,p=0.049) have significant correlation with facial recognition ability,and for the scramble/blurred task is a match task,this correlation was not caused by memory.Thus,it supported our previous suppose, that is,individual difference in facial recognition ability is correlated with the face integral ability.
