【摘要】 <正>The major industrial success of membrane operations in the last years has been in their application to desalination of brackish and sea waters.Not only RO is today largely applied in this field but also MF,UF and NF are often utilized in the feed water pre- treatment steps realizing interesting integrated membrane systems in water desalination and potabilisation which well respond to the logic of process intensification.The level of reliability reached by this technology is demonstrated by the proposal of building the largest desalination system in the world(the RSDSC project with a productivity of 27 m~3/s) totally based on RO.The possibility of increasing recovery factors and of solving the problems of brine disposal introducing membrane crystallizers in the treatment of the RO and NF feeds is becoming of interest for sea water desalination but also in the treatment of various industrial waste water.In prospective the integrated membrane operations based on pressure driven operations, membrane contactors and,if necessary,on membrane reactors might well approach the concept of total raw materials utilization,recycle and reuse as in most of natural systems.
