【Abstract】 Electrochemical quartz crystal microbalance(EQCM)technique can be used in evaluating scaling tendency in oil-field brine rapidly and accurately.Potentiostatic measurements were introduced to deposit scale on cathode(Quartz wafer).In this paper,the synergetic effect of scale inhibitor and polymer on scaling in oil-field brine was investigated. It is shown that the scale inhibition capacity is not very notable when there is only one constituent in present.The synergetic effect is evident when both inhibitor and polymer present.The synergetic effect is in relation with the concentration of the both constituents. The best effect occurs in the polymer concentration of 50ppm and scale inhibitor concentration of 60ppm.When adding certain amount of scale inhibitor in different time to the brine in the presence of 50ppm polymer,few amount of inhibitor failed to generate apparent synergetic effect and great amount of that can inhibit scaling by way of chelating and dispersion effects.Meanwhile,some existed scale could be re-dispersed into the brine.
