【Abstract】 Ian Mc Ewan is one of the leading contemporary British writers whose works are highly acclaimed by readers for their fantastic imagination and profound exploration of human nature.Machines Like Me,the first science fiction in which Mc Ewan depicts artificial intelligence, presents a social picture in which intelligent robots live together with humans as companions, under the first-person narration of the human character Charlie. From a posthuman perspective, this paper explores the complex relationship between humans and robots and the community construction in the new situation, which can provide useful references for the development of current era.The paper is divided into five parts: introduction, chapter one, chapter two, chapter three and conclusion. The introduction introduces Mc Ewan’s life and works, outlines research status at home and abroad about Mc Ewan, and clarifies the connotation of the concept of posthuman and the theoretical evolution of community. The main part of the paper is divided into three chapters.Chapter one explores the transmutation of the traditional family community formed by emotional ties and gender relations under the influence of the posthuman era of technological intermediary and the possibility of constructing a new human-machine community.Besides, this chapter also points out that Mc Ewan establishes a posthuman embodied narrative in Machines Like Me,which exposes the fundamental contradiction between human and machine and the resulting tragedy of anthropocentrism.Chapter two begins with the theory of political community of Aristotle and other thinkers to deeply explore the social change in Machines Like Me.Tony Benn’s grand political ideas have great appeal in the posthuman era with the addition of advanced technology, and his opinion of using robots to work to liberate human beings makes him rise to the Prime Minister and establish a political community to run the country. However, the divergent interests within the community members make all his efforts come to nought.Chapter three draws on experiences from the current theory of a community with a shared future and aims to provide way out for the construction of the community in the posthuman era.Mutual understanding on the basis of equality and win-win cooperation on the basis of mutual benefits should be the keys to the harmonious coexistence of human beings with robots or others in the future. The conclusion part points out the practical significance of the thesis research.A community with a shared future in which human beings and machines are tightly integrated is the beacon of development in the posthuman era.In the meantime,in today’s rapidly changing world, where economic globalization has brought countries closer together than ever before, building a community of interconnectedness is the only way to make great progress.
