【摘要】 本研究以Wodak提出的语篇-历史分析方法为理论框架,对《纽约时报》中关于美国非法移民的新闻报道进行批评性语篇分析。通过分析非法移民在《纽约时报》中的身份建构,探讨新闻报道中隐藏的真正意图。本文旨在增进人们对新闻报道中话语策略的理解,并提高人们的批评意识。本研究主要运用语篇-历史分析方法中的话语策略和语境对语料进行分析,并采用定性为主、定量为辅的研究方法。以“非法移民”为搜索词,本研究在数据库Lexis Nexis中搜集自2017年1月1日至2019年12月31日发表在《纽约时报》上关于美国非法移民的新闻报道。在按照数据库自带的“相关度”排序后,选取前100篇新闻报道作为研究语料来源。本文旨在回答以下三个研究问题:(1)《纽约时报》建构了怎样的美国非法移民身份?(2)《纽约时报》怎样建构的该身份?(3)《纽约时报》为什么建构了此身份?本研究的主要发现如下:(1)在《纽约时报》中,美国非法移民主要被建构为被需要的人、受害者以及威胁三种身份;(2)在运用语篇-历史分析方法对语料进行分析后发现,《纽约时报》通过使用五种话语策略及语境完成了上述三种身份的建构;(3)《纽约时报》中此三种身份的建构主要有以下三种原因:美国经济发展有赖于移民的贡献,特朗普任美国总统期间收紧了移民政策,以及民粹主义抬头。本文具有一定的实用价值。首先,语篇-历史分析方法能揭示语篇中语言使用与真正意图的关系,提高人们的阅读能力,增强其批评意识。其次,本研究有助于加强人们对批评性语篇分析的理解,对语篇-历史分析方法在身份研究方面的运用具有借鉴意义。最后,本研究有助于学生的写作及阅读能力的提高,对英语写作及阅读教学有一定的参考价值。更多还原

【Abstract】 Taking the Discourse-Historical Approach(DHA)put forward by Wodak as the theoretical framework,this research makes a critical discourse analysis of the news reports on American undocumented immigrants published in The New York Times and analyzes their identity construction and the intentions of the reporters.This thesis aims to improve people’s understanding of discursive strategies in news reports and their critical awareness.This research mainly applies the discursive strategies and context of the DHA to make analysis of the data,and it adopts qualitative analysis as the primary research method and adopts the quantitative analysis as the auxiliary.Using “undocumented immigrants” as the search term,this research searches news reports on American undocumented immigrants published in The New York Times from January 1st,2017 to December 31 st,2019 from the database Lexis Nexis.This research sorts the results by the database’s self-contained“relevance”,and the top 100 news reports are selected as the data source.This thesis answers the following three research questions:(1)What identity of American undocumented immigrants is constructed in The New York Times?(2)How is such identity constructed in The New York Times?(3)What are the causes of such identity construction?The following are the major research findings:(1)American undocumented immigrants are mainly constructed as the desirable,victims and a threat in The New York Times.(2)After analyzing the research data with the aid of the DHA,this research finds that such identity construction in The New York Times is made by means of five discursive strategies and context.(3)There are mainly three causes of such identity construction in The New York Times: American economic development depends on the contribution of immigrants;Trump tightens the immigration policy during his presidency and populism rises in the U.S.This research has certain practical values.Firstly,the DHA is helpful to reveal the intention of the author,improve people’s reading ability and raise their critical awareness.Secondly,this research helps to improve people’s understanding of CDA,and it might be used for reference in the application of the DHA in the study of identity construction.Thirdly,this research is conducive to enhancing students’ writing and reading ability,and it can work as a reference for English writing and reading teaching.更多还原
