【摘要】 该论文选取国际主流报刊《经济学人》科技专栏中的五篇有关新冠疫情的新闻报道,以此作为翻译实践项目,向中文读者传播相关科学信息。这五篇报道涉及病毒检测,防护用品,病毒来源等科学或医疗方面的知识,属于科技新闻。五篇英语科技新闻报道主要的文本特点是客观准确、通俗易懂。而且《经济学人》语言极富特色,新词和形象化词汇使用都较频繁,长句和复合句也较多,因此笔者在实践的基础上,借助尤金·奈达的“功能对等”理论,将此次新冠新闻报道的翻译原则确定为:准确性和可读性。笔者运用文本分析法,个案分析法和对比分析法,从词汇、句子和语篇层面进行翻译技巧的探讨。通过实践发现:(1)在词汇层面,可使用语义引申、词性转换、正话反说和四字格化的翻译策略,由此达到所谓的“功能对等”并且能使语言符合新闻的风格特点;(2)在句子层面,根据英文语法逻辑和语义逻辑的分析对比,可分别采用顺译法、逆译法、拆分译法和综合译法翻译出现的长难句;(3)在语篇层面,笔者基于韩礼德的语篇衔接理论,注重句群和语段之间的衔接与连贯,尽可能使译文语篇逻辑通顺,语义连贯,衔接得当。通过此次《经济学人》关于新冠肺炎报道的英译汉实践,希望中国读者能更为快速地解到最近疫情动态,也希望相关翻译策略对该领域翻译带来一些启示。更多还原

【Abstract】 The author selected five news reports on the COVID-19 from the Science and Technology column of The Economist,a famous international newspaper,as a translation project in this thesis to better communicate the related information to Chinese audiences.The five news reports belong to the sci-tech news,which cover scientific and medical fields such as virus detection,protective equipment,and sources of the virus.These texts are characterized by objectivity,accuracy,and comprehensibility.The language of The Economist is particularly characteristic,especially with its frequent use of new words,figurative vocabulary,and long sentences.Considering these textual characteristics,the principles of the translation are identified as accuracy and readability.By using textual analysis,case study analysis and comparative analysis,the thesis explores some translation techniques at the lexical,syntactic and discourse levels.Through this practice,the author has found:(1)At the lexical level,translation strategies of semantic extension,lexical conversion,lexical reversing and fourcharacter structure can be used to achieve Nida’s Functional Equivalence;(2)at the syntactic level,sequential,reversing,splitting,and recasting can be used to translate the long sentences,based on the analysis and comparison of English grammatical and semantic logic;(3)at the textual level,based on the theory of textual cohesion put forward by systemic functional linguist Halliday,the coherence in and between sentences and paragraphs should be achieved.Through this practice of English to Chinese translation,it is hoped that Chinese readers would be better informed of the recent epidemic developments and those translation strategies could be of value to other translators.更多还原
