【摘要】 本文是一篇翻译实践报告,翻译文本选自爱丁堡大学应用语言学教授约翰·约瑟夫的《语言、心智与身体概念史》(3-4章节)。译者以信息结构为指导,总结翻译过程中对介词短语、定语从句和语篇层面相关翻译难点的处理方法与心得收获。《语言、心智与身体概念史》是一部将语言学延伸到哲学、心理学、医学、文学和宗教等相关领域的著作,主要介绍了历史各个时期对语言、心智与身体3个概念的探索,试图从心智和身体层面来解释语言的由来与性质。第3-4章节主要介绍了古代与中世纪时期柏拉图、亚里士多德、伊壁鸠鲁、奥古斯丁等人对此提出的相关思想。为了解决句法层面和语篇层面的翻译难点,准确流畅地将原著思想传递给译文读者,译者以信息结构为指导,对原文进行话题、焦点分析,根据作者的焦点意图及汉语表达习惯,主要采用“顺句操作”和“句式重构”两大翻译技巧处理句法层面的信息转换。同时,结合主位推进模式的分析,掌握原文的信息发展脉络和逻辑关系,使译文尽量贴合原文的信息流动,努力实现译文的准确性与流畅性。本报告共分为四个章节。第一章是对翻译任务的描述,包括对翻译文本、作者和翻译意义的介绍。第二章阐述了翻译实践的过程,包括译前准备、翻译过程和译后修改校对等工作。第三章是本文的主体部分,包括理论介绍和案例分析两个部分,详细介绍了译者如何运用信息结构来解决翻译过程中遇到的翻译难点。第四章是结论部分,对本次翻译实践进行了总结,并对翻译心得进行了简述,同时指出了本次翻译实践的局限性。更多还原

【Abstract】 The report is on the translation of Language,Mind and Body: Conceptual History(Chapters 3-4),written by John e.Joseph,professor of Applied Linguistics at the University of Edinburgh.It concludes the difficulties and solutions of prepositional phrase translation,attributive clause translation and textual translation under the guidance of Information Structure.Language,Mind and Body: Conceptual History is the first linguistics handbook that relates language to philosophy,psychology,medicine,literature and religion,presenting the explorations on what language is and where it is located in different historical periods.Chapters 3-4 mainly introduce the statements of Plato,Aristotle,Epicurus,Augustine concerning language,mind and body during the antiquity and the middle age.To transfer the information from the source text to the target text correctly and coherently,the translator takes Information Structure as the theoretic guidance to solve the translation difficulties.Based on the analysis of topic and focus,information value and intention,as well as the differences between English and Chinese,the translator mainly adopts the translation techniques of “following the original syntactic order” and “reinventing sentence structures” to deal with the translation difficulties at the syntactic level.Meanwhile,through the analysis of thematic progression,the translator could trace the information flow of the source text.On this basis,the target text should keep the original thematic progression patterns as much as possible to achieve the expressive accuracy and coherence at the textual level.The translation report is composed of four chapters.The first chapter is the project description,which introduces the translation text and the writer,and the significance of the translation project.Chapter two describes the translation process,including preparatory work,while-translation and quality control.The third chapter is the case study from the perspective of Information Structure.Chapter four is the conclusion,which concludes the implications and limitations of the translation project.更多还原
