基于FPGA的实时人脸检测系统设计

【摘要】 进入二十一世纪以来,随着需要的不断增加,人脸识别技术已成为一个研究热点。直接、方便、非侵犯性和友好是人脸识别特有的优点,故人脸识别是人们最愿意接受的一种身份特征鉴别手段。人脸检测作为人脸识别系统的重要环节,也得到了越来越多研究者的关注。随着深入的研究和扩大的应用,在人脸识别中的应用外,人脸检测在出入口控制、视频会议、图像检索和智能人机交互等范畴也有着重要的应用前景。所以,人脸检测已逐步发展成为一个专门的研究方向。本论文设计了一套基于FPGA的实时人脸检测系统。在硬件上,该实时人脸检测系统采用Altera公司Cyclone Ⅱ系列的EP2C70F896C6芯片作为FPGA主控制器,硬件系统采取核心板、外围板分开设计,有利于减少开发成本和节约开发时间。核心板为保证系统运行的最小系统,并且充分考虑了信号完整性问题,进行了一些改善信号完整性的设计。考虑到将来拓展功能的可能性,外围板上主要设计了通信模块、存储模块、音频模块、输入输出模块、USB模块、VGA模块、摄像头模块和显示屏模块。本论文所设计的实时人脸检测系统在软件上以QuartusⅡ11.0为软件平台,实现Verilog设计输入、设计综合、仿真测试以及可编程逻辑器件的编程、配置。软件功能模块主要包括肤色检测算法模块、中值滤波算法模块和形态学滤波算法模块。通过软、硬件平台的实验调试,初步实现了该实时人脸检测系统的基本功能,即能实时检测画面中存在的人脸,并进行输出显示。

【Abstract】 Since the21st century, with the increase in need, face recognition technology has become a hot research topic.Directness,convenience,non-invasive and friendship are unique advantages of face recognition,a way of identity authentication that people most likely accept.As an important part of face recognition system,face detection has got more and more attention of research scholars.With in-depth study and expansion of application,in addition to application in face recognition,face detection also has important application prospect in fields of access control,video conferencing,image retrieval and intelligent human-computer interaction, etc.Therefore, face detection has gradually developed into a special research direction.In this paper, the design of real-time face detection system was based on FPGA.In hardware, the real-time face detection system used Altera’s Cyclone II FPGA family EP2C70F896C6chip as the main controller.Hardware part separately designed the core board and the back board,convenient to reduce development costs and shorten the development cycle.The core board was the minimum system to ensure that the system ran normally,and gived full consideration to the signal integrity issues. Some improvements were designed to keep signal integrity.Taking into account the possibility of future expansion of functions,the back board mainly designed communication module,memory module, audio module,input and output module, USB module,VGA module, camera module and display module.The real-time face detection system designed in this paper used the software Quartus Ⅱ11.0as the software platform.The software Quartus Ⅱ11.0could realize verilog design entry for programming, design synthesis, simulation, testing and configuration of programmable logic devices.Software modules included skin detection algorithm module, median filtering algorithm module and morphological filtering algorithm module.Through experimental testing of software and hardware platforms,the real-time face detection system initially realized the basic functions,namely,instantly detecting images that existed faces and displaying face field.
