【摘要】 模糊语是一种社会语言现象，更是一种文化现象，是文化在语言当中的一种体现。模糊语又是人们在社会交际中为谋求理想的交际效果而创造的一种适当的语言形式。它在社会交际中发挥着重要作用。日常的约定俗成的模糊语能起润滑剂的作用，通过模糊语，可以避免语言过于直露而给对方造成伤害。它是语言使用中人们用来协调人际关系的有效润滑剂，是保全交际各方面子的重要手段。因此，在现实生活中，有些事物或行为不宜直率的、确切地表达出来，这时就需要借助语言的模糊性来改变说法，避免直言造成的不愉快。研究表明，在跨文化交际日益频繁的当今世界，模糊语在各个领域都有广泛的运用，了解和掌握模糊语在社会交际中的有效运用可以帮助人们减少语用失误、减少文化冲突带来的摩擦，从而进一步促进交流。本文从语用学的角度，以合作原则、礼貌原则和面子论为理论基础，采用举例分析法，对中英模糊语在各个领域中的广泛运用进行语用分析和研究。主要分析了中英模糊语是如何违反合作原则和遵循礼貌原则的；论述了合作原则和礼貌原则下中英模糊语在日常交际、商务谈判、新闻报道及外交语言等方面中的广泛运用。通过以上分析可以看出只有恰当的使用模糊语才能调整好礼貌程度，使个人文明和个人修养得到很好的体现，从而把给对方的伤害降到最低限度，达到成功的交际目的。因此，本论文在前人的研究成果基础之上，主要从语用分析的角度来论述中英模糊语在合作原则、礼貌原则和面子论下的有效运用，可以发现模糊语的恰当运用可以达到刺激听众的兴趣、提高灵活性、避免极端表达和提升适用性等语用功能。更多还原

【Abstract】 Vagueness, also called as cosmetic words, is not only a social lingualphenomenon, but also a cultural phenomenon. It is the embodiment of culture inlanguage. Vagueness is also a proper language pattern which people created in socialcommunication in order to make communication effective. It plays an important rolein social communication. It can help to avoid hurting the other party’s feeling. Itmakes the human relationship in communication go smooth and helps to save face ofcommunicators. If people make full use of vagueness human communication can beaccelerated and facilitated. In our daily life, to avoid embarrassment, some things orbehaviors cannot be expressed directly. So, to express them asks for the use oflanguage vagueness to achieve the purpose of communication. The study has shownthat in the world of very common cross-cultural communication, vagueness is widelyused in all aspects of social lives. To understand and master the effective use ofvagueness in social communication can help people to reduce pragmatic failures andfrictions brought by culture conflicts so as to promote communication.From the angle of pragmatics and culture and based on the theory ofCo-operative Principle, Politeness Principle and face theory, this thesis analyses andstudies the extensive use of Chinese and English vagueness in every social filed bythe method of illustration and analysis. Chinese and English vagueness about how toviolate the Co-operative Principle and observe the Politeness Principle; and the thesisalso discusses the widely application of Chinese and English vagueness underCo-operative Principle and Politeness Principle in the fields of daily communication,business negotiation, news reporting and diplomatic language. Thus we can see thatonly when vagueness is properly used can the degree of politeness be well adjustedand the personal civilization and personal cultivation be well manifested. Therefore,the injury to interlocutors can be decreased to the minimal extent and communion canbe further improved to achieve the successful communication. Therefore, on the basis of the research results of predecessors, this thesis mainlyexplores the effective application of Chinese and English vagueness underCo-operative Principle, Politeness Principle and Face theory from the perspective ofthe pragmatic analysis. It is found that the proper use of vagueness can reflect witsand humor; create a harmonious atmosphere; save face; avoid direct expression; beeuphemistic and self-protecting.更多还原
