无线Mesh网络负载平衡问题的研究

【摘要】 无线Mesh网络(Wireless Mesh Network,WMN)是一种新型的宽带无线网络结构,可以看成是无线局域网(Wireless Local Area Network,WLAN)和移动Ad-hoc网络(Mobile Ad hoc Network,MANET)的融合,且发挥了两者的优势。但是传统的负载平衡策略并不适用于WMN网络,因此在网络层研究解决WMN的负载平衡问题对于满足WMN的整体性能需求、设计以及推动WMN的应用具有重要的理论意义和实际价值。本文的主要工作是对WMN的负载平衡策略进行研究和仿真分析。首先,论文阐述了无线Mesh网络的结构、特点、优势及应用。之后,系统地介绍了几种负载平衡策略及其部分解决方案,并提出了一种基于网关的负载平衡策略,给出了其具体算法和理论分析。在此基础上,使用NS-2网络仿真软件,搭建了无线Mesh网络的上层结构,对基于网关的负载平衡策略进行仿真和分析。最后,在实验室环境下,用笔记本电脑、台式机和无线网卡搭建了小型实验网络,研究在实际网络和信道情况下干扰对于无线Mesh网络性能的影响,并对简单的负载平衡策略进行了现实情况下的模拟,探讨其对网络吞吐量的影响。总体而言,在基于IEEE802.11协议的无线Mesh网络中,负载平衡策略在网络整体负载比较接近饱和时较为有效,使用负载平衡策略可以改善网络性能,提高网络的平均吞吐量和降低端到端时延等。当网络负载过轻或过重都会影响负载平衡策略的发挥,其作用将会大为降低。该结论对于推广WMN的应用具有重要指导作用。
【Abstract】 Wireless Mesh Network (WMN)is a new type of Wireless Broadband Networks. This kind of network can be considered as a combine of Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) and Mobile Ad hoc Network (MANET), and it has the advantages of both WLAN and MANET. However, the traditional load balance policy is not suitable for WMN. So, research on load-balancing to solve the problems in wireless mesh network makes a very important place to satisfy the entire performance requirements and to impulse the application development of WMN.The main work of this article is the study, simulation, and analyzing of load-balancing strategies for wireless mesh network. Firstly, we expound the structure, characteristic, advantages and applications of WMN, then, we introduce several kinds of load-balancing strategies and some solution schemes. And, we give a gateway-based load-balancing strategy and its arithmetic. In this condition, we use NS-2 tool to simulate the topology and strategy and analyze the results. In the end, a small scale experimental WMN is built using laptop, PC and wireless network card under the real channel condition. And we discuss the influences from load-balancing to network performance.As a whole, in the wireless mesh network under IEEE802.11 protocol, load-balancing strategy is more effective when the network load reaches the saturation point. Using load-balancing strategy can improve the performance of the whole network, including improving the average throughput and reducing the end-to-end delay. When the network load is too high or too low, the effect of load-balancing strategy will be depressed. And these conclusions will impulse the application of WMN as a significant instruction function.
