大容量ATM交换机控制策略及其性能仿真研究

【摘要】 ATM交换技术融合了电路交换与分组交换的优点,在带宽统计复用、高速分组交换和保证不同业务的QoS等方面具有突出优势。ATM交换机是ATM网络的重要组成部分,是网络研究的热点之一。本文结合项目“星上10Gbps大容量交换原型样机”,重点研究共享缓存ATM交换机的控制策略和仿真性能评估,并在此基础上设计了一种适合该原型样机的高效缓存策略。论文在简述了ATM交换机的交换结构和功能的基础上,详细研究了共享缓存ATM交换机的控制策略,包括缓存管理策略、选路控制策略、组播实现机制和拥塞控制策略等。利用OPNET仿真工具建立了共享缓存ATM交换机的仿真模型,完成仿真软件设计与实现,并对其进行了性能评估。仿真工作着重研究不同控制策略对ATM交换机性能的影响情况。通过对仿真结果的分析,得到适合该原型样机的优化缓存策略。论文工作为选择合适、简单和高效的控制策略,以及交换机的参数优化设置,实现具有共享缓存ATM交换机提供重要参考。

【Abstract】 Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) switching technology, which integrates the advantages of the circuit-switched and packet-switched, has outstanding advantages of statistical multiplexing in bandwidth, high-speed packet switching and guaranteeing the QoS of different services. ATM switch is an important component of the ATM network. It is also a focus of network research. Sponsored by the project named“prototype of a 10 Gbps large capacity ATM switch on-board”, a detailed study is made in this dissertation for the control strategies of shared-memory ATM switch and their performance evaluation through simulations, thus an efficient buffering strategy adapted to the prototype is designed.On the basic introduction to the switching fabrics and functions of an ATM switch, this dissertation detailedly studies the control strategies of shared-memory ATM switch, including the buffer manage strategy, routing control strategy, multicast implementation mechanism and congestion control strategy, etc. With the help of the OPNET simulation software development kit (SDK), a simulation model of shared-memory ATM switch is built, a design and implementation of the simulation software is accomplished. Accordingly, the performance of the simulation model is evaluated. The simulation work focuses on the impact of different control strategies on the ATM switch performance. Through the analysis of the simulation results, an optimized buffer strategy of the prototype is given.The work in the dissertation provides an important reference to select a suitable, simple and efficient control strategy, set optimizational switch parameter, and implement a shared-buffer ATM switch.
