二维异质结光子晶体滤波器的设计和性能分析

【摘要】 光子晶体在波长量级可以控制光路的特性,对光学器件的集成化有着重要作用,越来越受到许多研究者和企业家的关注。本论文运用发Fortran自主编程结合二维时域有限差分法(2D FDTD)及平面波展开法(PWM)等仿真软件,设计了新型的二维异质结光子晶体滤波器,深入分析它的光学特性。本文的设计和模拟计算结果为光通信用的波长调谐、上/下载滤波器提供一条新的设计思路和依据。深入分析异质结光子晶体L型弯曲波导的传输特性。用平面波展开方法计算出完美光子晶体的能带结构,用有限时域差分法模拟了电磁波在光子晶体L型弯曲波导中的传播,并计算该光子晶体波导的透射效率。本文设计的异质结光子晶体L型弯曲波导的传输效率较同质结光子晶体L型弯曲波导提高了6~7%。研究了二维异质结光子晶体滤波器的滤波特性。用平面波展开方法和有限时域差分法,对不同晶格光子晶体引入缺陷以后的能带结构、电磁波传输特性进行探讨。异质结光子晶体弯曲波导中引入不同晶格常数的微腔,实现不同波长的滤波。从两个方面实现了二维异质结光子晶体滤波器的波长可调谐,一是通过改变点缺陷周围介质材料(液晶)的折射率,获得了31 nm的波长调谐范围;二是通过改变相关介质柱半径的方式,使微腔中透射峰的波长调谐范围约12 nm和22 nm。

【Abstract】 Photonic crystals, which can control the transmission of light perfectly at light wavescale, have attracted much attention because of their potentials for manufacturing highlyintegrated optical devices. In this thesis, optical filters based on 2-D heterostructurephotonic crystals were designed and their properties were analyzed using Fortranprograms and simulation package based on plane wave expansion (PWE) method andfinite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method. Our design and simulated results providesome indications for developing wave length tunable and add/drop optical filters in thefield of optical fiber communication.The transmission properties of L-type curved waveguides based on heterostructurephotonic crystals were analyzed thoroughly. The band structures of perfect optical crystalswere calculated using plane wave expansion (PWE) method and the transmission ofelectromagnetic waves in straight and L curved waveguides based on photonic crystalswere simulated using finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method. The transmissionproperties of these waveguides have also been calculated respectively. The transmissionefficiency of L-type curved waveguide based on heterostructure photonic crystal in ourpaper has an enhancement of 6~7%, compared to the L-type curved waveguide based onhomostructure photonic crystal.The filtering properties of optical filters based on heterostructure photonic crystalwere studied. The band structures and electromagnetic wave transmission properties ofphotonic crystals including defects were discussed using PWE and FDTD. We haverealized filtering different wave length by introducing small cavities of different latticeconstants into curved waveguides based on heterostrueture photonic crystals.The wave length tunability of optical filters based on 2 D heterostructure photoniccrystals was realized in two ways: (1) By changing the refractive indices of neighboringmedium material of dot defects, a tunable range of 31 nm wave length was realized. (2)By changing the radius of relevent rods, tunable ranges of 12 nm and 22 nm wave lengthwere achieved, respectively.
