小波变换在图像压缩方面研究及应用

【摘要】 随着多媒体技术和网络通讯的发展,图像的传输和存储对图像压缩技术提出了更高的要求。伴随着新一代静态图像压缩标准JPEG2000的应运而生,基于小波的图像压缩编码算法得到了进一步的研究和发展。在此同时图像数据库作为图像存储的一种形式已经得到了广泛的应用,不同领域的图像数据库应用对图像压缩技术有着不同的要求。本文就是在这种情况下对小波图像压缩作进一步的研究工作,同时应实验室项目对遥感图像压缩的需要,做出这项研究课题,主要包括以下几个方面:第一部分:介绍了图像压缩的基本概念,国内外研究现状和本文的研究背景和主要工作。然后介绍了小波理论的基础,主要阐述连续小波、离散小波和DWT快速算法,接着对新的JPEG2000标准的核心算法进行了描述,并和JPEG标准进行了比较。第二部分:介绍了小波变换在图像压缩上的应用,结合小波编码SPIHT算法,对其进行截断编码,实现了压缩比的可控性,并且在自然图像以及遥感图像上进行了应用,对不同应用情况运用不同压缩比。第三部分:介绍了感兴趣区域编码(ROI)的基本概念,感兴趣

【Abstract】 With the rapid development of multimedia technology and network communications, it is necessary to have better performance of image compression method for image transmission and storage. And after the new image compression standard JPEG2000 came out, image compression based on wavelet has further researches and development. In the mean time, image database is widely used in many fields, which requires different image compression technologies according to special characteristics of images as well. The research subject of this paper is put forward for this background and the requirements of lab’s projects. This paper contains these parts as follows:Part 1: this thesis first reviews some basic conception, nowadays researches about image compression, the background of this paper and my main work. Then some academic theory about wavelet is presented, which contains wavelet, discrete wavelet, DWT transformation.
