【摘要】 从本质上说，我国社会目前正处于社会转型期即从农业社会向工业社会的转型、从传统社会向现代社会的转型期，尤其是我国西部民族社区在较长时间内仍将面对社会转型的挑战。西部民族社区，在全球化—现代化的冲击下，在产业结构、生活方式、民族传统文化等方面都在向现代化方向转型，在这个转型过程中，我国西部民族社区遭遇了发展的尴尬：一方面，西部民族社区正在丧失其农牧资源、传统文化资源的优势；另一方面又试图努力与现代主流社会趋同，但在融入过程中却遭遇了语言、习俗、文化等方面的巨大阻碍与鸿沟。在这种情况下，西部民族社区的发展何去何从，在传统与现代之间如何抉择，有没有超越传统与现代社区之外的第三条发展路径便成了本文的探讨主题。 本文在将社会资源交换学说作为阐释西部民族社区发展的理论视角下，结合具体的社区个案对西部民族社区在转型过程中的困境和发展优势进行了描述分析，认为西部民族社区本身不应抗拒现代化也无法抗拒现代化，反之应该将其作为一种发展的机遇；但在社区发展的过程中应该是立足于本民族社区的自然生态资源和传统民族文化资源进行适度的合理的现代化，与主流社会的现代性资源进行交换，在社区发展中走一条以生态农牧业和以生态旅游为载体或者其他物质载体开发传统民族文化资源相结合的经济发展道路。文章最后在个案研究基础上，将西部民族社区与现代社会进行对比，提出了一种新的发展理念即“第三社区”。笔者认为第三社区是结合资源限定规模的民族社区，是具备多样性资源对全球化交换优势的社区，是生活方式的互动参与式社区。“第三社区”并非现实社区形态，而是针对西部民族社区未来发展方向的探讨，但这种社区更多还原

【Abstract】 Fundamentally, our country is in the process of social transformational, that is, from the rural society to the industrial society, from the traditional society to the modern society. Especially for the western minority communities, they will confront the challenges of the social transformation in long periods. Under the influence of the globalization-modernization, the western minority communities are transforming to the modernization in all aspects, such as structures of production, life styles, people’s traditional cultures, etc. The western minority communities’ transformation is in a dilemma. On one hand the communities are losing the advantages of agrioulture-nomadic and traditional culture resources, one the other hand, the communities are trying to join the center society, in which process they will confronts some blocks in the languages, customs, culture and so on. In the situation, this article is concerning the following questions such as where to go? how to choose between the tradition and modernization? Is there a third road surpassing the traditional community and the modernization community? etc.Through the case study, the article describes and analyzes both the dilemma and the advantages of the western community transformation, taking the social resources exchange theory as the angle of sight to explain the western minority community development. The author points out that the western minority communities should not and could dot reject the modernization, on the contrary, they should take it as an opportunity.
