一种实现半导体激光器和多模光纤耦合的实用化技术研究

【摘要】 半导体激光器(以下简称LD)具有体积小、重量轻、寿命长、电光转换效率高、可直接调制等优点,目前在信息、能源、医疗、材料、娱乐等诸多领域都得到了越来越广泛的应用,材料和器件的水平也有了长足的进展。但是它的光波导存在较强的不对称性,垂直于结平面和平行于结平面的发散角差异很大,直接限制了它在许多方面的应用,并且影响了它与光纤(束)耦合时的耦合效率。LD和光纤耦合问题的研究受到国内外的关注,成为一个重要的研究课题。LD与光纤的耦合,按照LD与光纤之间是否存在光学元件,耦合方式可分为两种,即直接耦合与间接耦合。针对不同型号的LD和不同芯径的光纤,可选用合适的耦合方式。本论文在深入研究了各种耦合方法及其应用条件的基础上,主要进行了以下几项工作:1.详细的分析了半导体激光器输出光场的特点和光纤中传输光的特点,阐述了半导体激光器的输出光和光纤耦合的理论模型,分别介绍了光线耦合理论和模式耦合理论。2.把LD和光纤的耦合系统,分成微透镜光纤耦合系统和分立式透镜耦合系统分别进行了分析。其中着重分析了微透镜光纤耦合系统中比较常用的微透镜光纤端面的结构及其耦合特性。并介绍了制作微透镜光纤端面的工艺。从工艺和耦合效率两方面考虑,球透镜光纤的制作工艺简单、成熟且易于实现。3.针对由柱透镜和聚焦透镜组成的组合透镜耦合系统中存在的封装和调试困难等问题,提出了:用一段直径为600μm的裸石英光纤代替柱透镜,对半导体激光器输出光束进行准直整形;用球透镜光纤对准直后的光束进行聚焦,直接实现和光纤耦合,来代替聚焦透镜和光纤耦合的环节。4.对3中提出的新的耦合系统即由柱透镜光纤和球透镜光纤组成的耦合系

【Abstract】 Laser Diode(LD) has the advantages of small volume, light weight, longevity of service, high electro-optic convert efficiency and direct modulate etc. Now it is more widely used in the fields of information, energy, therapeutic, material, entrainment and so on. And the technological level of its material and devices has improved mostly. But its light waveguide is strong asymmetry with a very big difference between perpendicular and parallel to the junction plane. So most applications are limited and coupling efficiency between LD and the optical fiber is affected. The researches on the coupling between LD and the optical fiber have been focusing on and becoming a very important research project.The methods of coupling between LD and optical fiber can be divided into direct and indirect coupling according to whether optical devices exist between them. For various types of LD and optical fiber, every coupling method has its advantages and disadvantages.Based on in-depth analyses existing coupling methods and its’application conditions, this paper includes the following segments:1. The basic theories are offered on the optical transmission in fiber and the characteristic of LD’s optical field. Set forth the coupling model in theory between LD and optical fiber, light coupling theory and model coupling one.2. Coupling systems between LD and optical fiber are separated into two categories: micro-lens optical fiber system and disjunct lens one. And in micro-lens optical fiber system mainly analysis the structure of the end face of optical fiber and it’s coupling efficiency. Then introduce the process in making the micro-lens optical fiber. Considering the technics and coupling efficiency, optical fiber with sphere end is priority due to it’s simple technics and easy facture.3. Because traditional coupling system composed with cylinder lens and focus lens has the disadvantages of difficult to encapsulation and modulate, a new practical method brings forward: the output light from laser diode is collimated using a section of optical fiber with the diameter of 600μm instead of cylinder lens, and a sphere–end lens
