一种丙烯酸酯侧链型铁电性液晶高分子的分子设计与合成

Designing and Synthesis of a Kind of Side-chain Ferroelectric Liquid Crystalline Polyacrylate

【摘要】 本论文依据液晶高分子结构理论,选择联苯基作为介晶基元的刚性核,光学活性的L-2-甲基丁醇作为手性中心,六亚甲基脂肪链为柔性间隔基,合成了一种聚丙烯酸酯侧链型铁电性液晶高分子。 实验主要是以联苯酚、对氰基联苯酚以及手性L-2-甲基丁醇为原料,通过三种不同的途径合成中间产物4-羟基联苯甲酸-L-2-甲基丁醇酯,并对三种不同的工艺路线从原料的易得性、反应时间、产率和对产物的旋光度影响进行了比较,从而选择出最佳合成路线。柔性间隔基的引入是通过6-氯己醇与酚羟基的醚化反应,再与丙烯酸酯化成单体。采用FTIR、~1HNMR对中间体及产物的结构进行了确认,并对其液晶性采用DSC、TPOM、XRD等手段进行了表征。 主要工作内容如下: 1、总结了小分子铁电性液晶及高分子铁电性液晶的基本理论与应用前景,依据铁电性液晶分子结构理论,设计了一种以L-2-甲基丁醇为手性中心的丙烯酸酯侧链型铁电性分子结构的液晶高分子,并对三种不同工艺路线进行了比较,从而选择出最佳合成路线。 2、根据自由基溶液聚合理论,选用AIBN为引发剂,THF为溶剂,合成出聚丙烯酸酯类侧链型铁电性液晶高分子,并研究了单体浓度、引发剂含量、聚合温度、聚合时间对聚合反应的影响。 3、运用DSC、TPOM、XRD对中间体及聚合物的液晶性进行了表征。 4、对中间体和聚合物采用Chem.3D中的MM2模板程序,计算机模拟分子链处于能量最低、最优构象时的分子长度及分子长径比,结合XRD结果对其液晶性进行了合理解释。 5、单体液晶的合成及STN液晶材料的混配。

【Abstract】 Based on the liquid crystal polymer theory, a kind of side-chain ferroelectric liquid crystalline polyacrylate was synthesized by choosing biphenyl group as rigid nucleus of mesophase group, L-2-methylbutanol as chiral center and hexylidene as flexible spacing group. The intermediate L-2-methyl butyl 4’ -hydroxylbipheyl-4-carboxy -late was synthesized from 4-hydroxylbiphenyl, 4-cyano-4’ -hydroxyl biphenyl and L-2-methylbutanol through three different kinds of ways. Consider of the materials, reaction time and yields, the optimal route was chosen. Etherification between hydroxyl and 6-hydroxylhexanecloride is to lead-in flexible spacer, then the monomer was made from the product and acrylic acid. The structure of the intermediate and polymer was identified by FTIR and 1HNMR, their properties of liquid crystalline were characterized by differential scanning calorimeter(DSC), polarized optical microscope(TPOM) and X-ray diffraction(XRD). The main points of this dissertation consist the following points:Firstly, Basic theory and application prospect of ferroelectric liquid crystal and ferroelectric liquid crystal polymer were summarized, according to liquid crystal polymer theory, a kind of side chain ferreo electric acrylate liquid crystals containing optically active substrate were designed and the optimal synthetic route was selected from three different routes.Secondly, Monomers were polymerized by choosing appropriate synthesize route. Influence of different polymeric conditions, such as initiator concentration 、 monomer concentration 、 temperature 、 time, on polymerization of monomers were investigated in detail.Thirdly, the properties of intermediate and polymer were characterized by DSC, TPOM and XRD.Fourthly, the length and slenderness ratio of molecules were analog byusing MM2 pattern program in Chem. 3D when they were in the minimum energy state, so the reasonable explanation for their liquid crystalline properties and ferroelectric properties was given combined with the XRD. Lastly, synthesis of some liquid crystals for display and rearrangement of the STN LCD materials.
