【摘要】 本论文所要解决的主要问题是翻译文学在汉语从古代形态到现代形态演化过程中所起的作用及地位,即翻译文学如何促进了现代汉语的形成。这是一个跨学科题目,涉及到翻译、语言和文学三个领域,是拓宽现代文学研究领域和研究深度的一次尝试。 汉语现代化的起源语境是现代民族国家建立对现代语言的要求,在近现代中国,这首先表现在白话文运动上。本论文的第一章第一节概括了晚清和五四两次白话文运动的异同并指出了其对现代汉语的形成所产生的影响。认为晚清白话文运动提出了对新式的现代语言的要求,是汉语现代化的先声;但只有在五四白话文运动中,由于有了现代翻译和现代文学的支持,现代汉语才真正形成并走向成熟。翻译文学对汉语现代化的影响,从表面外观语言形态上看,主要是新词汇和新语法的引进,第二节详细地列举并分析了翻译对现代汉语产生的影响和这种影响在语言形态上的结果,指出正是翻译在现代汉语形成过程中的至关重要的作用,导致了现代汉语“亲西方”性的结构特征。 对近现代中国的任何一个领域的研究,都不可能是局限于该领域的纯粹个案研究,都必须考虑到整个国家和社会的现代转型对各个领域造成的不可去除的影响,对文学的研究更是如此。对现代文学中任何一个重要作家的完整理解,都必须兼顾其在翻译文学、现代汉语和现代文学这三个领域的贡献,因为在翻译介绍外国文学和进行本国现代文学创作这两项任务中身兼二职是这些作家的一个重要特征。本论文的第二章集中考察了近现代中国作家兼翻译家现象,并落实在其对现代汉语的影响上,揭示了他们对翻译文学、现代汉语和现代文学发展的筚路蓝缕之功。 本论文的第三章在前两章的基础上进一步深入,选取考察了三种重要的对“现代性”的理解,结合现代汉语和现代文学,认为现代汉语是现代文学之现代性的基因,用一种现代的语言去写作,是现代文学之“现代”,即区别于古代文学的最重要的原因之一。 结语部分综览全文和当前学界对论文中提出问题的研究现状及展望,认为对该问题的研究刚刚起步,是一个有生命力的研究方向。

【Abstract】 This essay is mainly concerned with what kind of role the translated literature played during the transformation of the Chinese language modernization. This is an essay that covers the areas of translation, language and literature, a try to broaden and deepen the study of modern literature.The modernization of the Chinese language originated from the request of the foundation of modern China for a new modern language. In modern China, it. firstly appeared as the Baihua movement (oral language movement, which is considered the opposite of literary language). The first part of this essay compares two oral language movements occurred in the late Qing dynasty and around the May 4th movement and points out its influence on the modernization of the Chinese language. The oral language movement in the late Qing dynasty was the predecessor of the modernization of the Chinese language, but it is until the May 4th movement that the modernization of the Chinese language began fully mature with the support of the translated literature and modern literature.Seen from appearance, the influence of the translated literature on the modernization of the Chinese language is shown on new words and new grammar. The essay explains this influence in detail and gives examples accordingly. It is just because translation has played such an important role in the formation of the modern Chinese that it has an affinity with western languages.The modernization of China has a profound influence on almost every aspects of the Chinese society. To study the role that translation played on the modernization of the Chinese language, we must pay attention to the particular phenomenon that some important writers are also important translators. The second part of the essay makes a close look at this phenomenon and its influence on the modernization of the Chinese language.On the base of the first three parts of the essay, the third part picks three important understandings of modernity combined with modern language and literature and comes to the conclusion that writing with a modern language distinguishes modern literature from ancient literature. Modern Chinese is the gene that makes modern literature so "modern".The end of the essay gives an overall look of the question mentioned and thinks that study on this has just begun.
