多媒体移动通信终端开发平台设计

【摘要】 随着移动通信的发展和芯片技术的进步,传统上只有简单电话功能的手机越来越不能满足人们对多媒体日益增长的要求。这些手机解决方案的硬件性能比较低,无法在这种平台上实现多媒体功能;而一些新的手机解决方案又存在技术开发难度大,开发周期长等问题。因此根据现有的GSM 技术和多媒体处理器设计具有多媒体功能的手机成为快速开发产品和低技术风险的首要选择。这篇论文在这个背景下,采用三星的S32440 处理器设计了一个多媒体手机的开发平台。S32440 是三星推出的一款16/32 位的RISC,为移动电话和其他嵌入式系统提供一种低价、低功耗、高性能的微处理器。其内部采用ARM920T 内核,能够为移动电话提供足够的硬件性能。在操作系统的选择上,为了降低成本和提高系统的稳定性,我们选用Redhat 的免费操作系统eCos。它是一种嵌入式可配置实时操作系统,适合于深度嵌入式应用,主要应用对象是一些低成本便携式产品中。eCos 具有无版权费用和对硬件平台要求低的特点,因此特别适合在手机这种嵌入式产品中应用。这篇论文围绕多媒体手机要实现的功能,对S32440 处理器和eCos 的一些关键技术进行了研究和总结;然后对一些开发平台关键功能模块进行了深入的分析。在PCB 的制作上,对高速信号的处理进行了分析和验证,这对整个系统的稳定工作是非常重要的。本文对eCos 的移植过程进行详细介绍;对平台抽象层、变体抽象层和体系结构抽象层进行了深入研究;最后简介了整个初始化的过程。笔者在整个系统中主要负责硬件电路设计、PCB 的制作、调试环境和操作系统的移植以及部分驱动程序的编写和调试。最后整个系统达到设计目标,为上层应用软件提供了一个可靠、稳定的开发平台。
【Abstract】 With the development of the mobile communication and improvement of the chip technology, the traditional mobile phones with simple phone function can not satisfy with the increasing demands of the multimedia applications. These phone solutions provide too less hardware capability, while some complete new solutions use complex technology and need long developing periods. Therefore, developing multimedia phones based on the mature GSM technology and mature multimedia processors is a good solution and common practice. In this paper, a mobile phone development platform of the approach is studied with Samsung’s S32440, which is an advanced 16/32-bit RISC microprocessor and designed to provide a cost-effective, low power and high performance. With a built-in ARM920T core, the S32440 provides very good hardware performance and is enough for various smart mobile phone applications. In order to reduce system cost and offer high reliability, we choose Redhat’s eCos as the embedded RTOS in our design. It is an open source, configurable, portable, and royalty-free. To meet the multimedia requirements, this paper studies the key technologies of S32440 and eCos; then designs the key function blocks of the hardware platform. In PCB design, signal integrity and other related issues are very important for reliability; they are studied and tested carefully in our design. This paper discusses the RTOS porting procedure; and studies the platform abstract layer, the variant abstract layer, and the architecture abstract layer. The initialization procedure of eCos is simply introduced at last. The eCos is very suitable for mobile phone for its cost-free and low hardware requirements. The paper is mainly on the schematics design, PCB design of the mother board, setup of the debugging environment and OS porting. Part of driver design and coding are also included. Finally, our design meets the requirements well and offers a reliable mobile phone development platform for multimedia applications.
