【摘要】 计算机和Internet的发展为英语作为第二语言的写作教学提供了新的机遇。电子邮件已经成为人们日常生活中的新的交际方式。电子邮件能否成为英语写作的激发因素呢?本研究试图寻找这一问题的答案。具体来说，回答了以下二个问题： (1)英语写作课堂中使用E-mail能促进学生的英语写作动机吗? (2)英语写作课堂中使用E-mail能促进学生的英语写作能力吗? 在过去的一个学期的教学中，乌市第四十一中高一(1)班与美国Illinois州的Aviston中学7年级学生进行E-mail交流，通过实验班高一(1)班与对照班高一(2)班进行的写作教学的试验对比分析来回答上述二个问题。在实验开始之前和结束之后对所有85名学生写作测验进行了前测和后测以及问卷调查。通过对所得数据定性定量地分析研究表明：E-mail写作能帮助学生克服羞怯心理，提高自信心，体验写作成功的快乐，激发写作动机，从而提高学生的写作水平。 本实验作为一项探索性研究，从整体上来说，肯定了电子邮件作为激发学生英语写作动机的手段的可行性，旨在为中学师生提供一种教与学的方法参考。E-mail从来都不能代替教师的角色，但它提供了新的对语言练习的更好的机会。它的出现确实使英语写作明显地丰富了。下一代学生将在信息技术上比我们有更多的自信。因此他们也能使用Internet更有效地交流。更多还原

【Abstract】 The development of PC and Internet affords new opportunity for the writing of ESL. E-mail has been a new communication way in peoples’ daily life. Can E-mail be a motivating means in English writing class? The presentpaper intends to gain insights into this problem. More specifically, the study aims to answer the following two questions:1) Does the application of E-mail in English writing class promote students’ motivation in English writing?2) Does the application of E-mail in English writing class improve students’ writing ability?During the past semester teaching, Class One Grade One in No.41 Senior High SchoII in Urumqi, Xinjiang, China were asked to exchange e-mails with native speakers who are Aviston Elementary school students in the 7th grade in Aviston, Illinois, USA on the assigned topics for intercultural understanding and language learning. The experiment class (Class One) has contrasted with the control class (Class Two) by English writing, which was analyzed to answer the two questions. Before the beginning of the experiment, all of the two classes’ 85 students have had the examination to pre-test. At last, 85 students have also had the examination of writing at the end of the term to post-test. And a questionnaire survey was administrated to all the 85 students before the start of the project and after the end of the project. Both quantitative and qualitative data were obtained and analyzed. The findings shows that E-mail writing can help the students to overcome their shyness, gain confidence in their writing, enjoy a felling of success and initiate their motivation to write. E-mail is effective in improving the students’ writing ability.As an exploration study, this study proves the feasibility of motivating students’ writing competence in a whole. It is hoped that it will provide teachers with some ideas for developing their own activities in teaching and to promote the students’ ability in writing. E-mail can/will never substitute teachers’ role but they offer new opportunities for better language practice. They may actually make the process of English writing significantly richer. The next generation of students will fell a lot more confident with information technology than we do. As a result, they will also be able to use the Internet to communicate more effectively.更多还原
