【摘要】 作者通过阅读大量的有关英文新词的书籍和报刊，从而激发了撰写这篇论文的灵感。报刊被称为传播最快最广的媒介之一，也被认为是英语新词诞生的摇篮。历史上对英语新词的研究往往仅局限在对新词的收集和解释上。基于这些珍贵的资料，本文探讨了英文报刊新词产生的原因和形成的方法。政治、经济、科技以及文化生活一直被称为是报刊新词产生的四大源泉。9／11事件后产生的新词就是一个典型的例子。至于新词是如何形成的，本文中提到了8种方法：合成、词缀、类比、拼合、缩略、借代、转化和旧词新义等。此外，本论文另一个重点就是对英文报刊新词的汉译。翻译这一学科已有一定的历史了，而且曾出现过许多不同的方法、学派以及观点。在这众多的翻译理论中，必定会有适合于英文报刊新词的翻译理论。因此，本文把重点放在了对等原则(这里指奈达的对等原则)和文化翻译上。众多的例子表明用这两种方法来翻译英文报刊新词是可行的。随着社会的进一步发展，对英文报刊新词的研究将继续进行下去。作者相信今后对这一领域的探讨将在英语语言的研究中扮演一个重要的角色。更多还原

【Abstract】 The idea of this paper emerged from a series of books about English neologisms and a large number of newspapers in which neologisms found their appearance. Newspaper, being one of the quickest and widest medium, serves as a major cradle for the creation of new words. In the history, the previous researches on the English neologisms put the emphasis upon the collection and explanation of these new words. On the basis of these precious materials, this paper explores the reasons and methods of the coining of English newspaper neologisms. Politics, economy, technology and social cultural are generally regarded as the four major sources for the coining of English neologisms. The new words which were created after 9/11 are a case in point. As for the methods of the production of neologisms, eight of them arementioned in this paper-compounding, affixation, analogy, blending, shortening,borrowing, conversion and old words putting on new meaning, etc. Futhermore, this paper pays another emphasis on the translation of the English newspaper neologisms into Chinese. The subject of translation has come of age, and there are many different approaches, different schools and different perspectives. Among all these numerous translation theories, there should be congenial theories for the translation of English newspaper neologisms. Therefore, this paper lays its priority on the equivalence (here refers to Nida’ s equivalence) and the cultural translation. Illustrated by many examples, we can see the feasibility of these translation theories in this field. With the development of the society, the study on the translation of English newspaper neologisms will go on incessantly. The writer believes that the further exploration on this field will pay an important role on the sophisticated researches on Enlgish itself.更多还原
