【Abstract】 Ernest Hemingway s first novel, The Sun Also Rises, is acclaimed as the initial account of a war-wearied lost generation. Its protagonist, Jake Barnes, attempts to adapt to the postwar life. The conclusion of the novel is affirmative, as Hemingway cites on the first page of the novel: " the earth abideth forever" . His heroes can be divided into the " apprentice" and " the exemplar" . And Jake, in this novel, grows from the" apprentice" to" the exemplary hero" . In the process of Jake5 s growth, Cohn at first is Jake5 s double but Romero sets an example for Jake. There are many definitions and situations Hemingway creatively depicts in the novel, including the fiesta and aficionado. Hemingway also successfully creates his own style in the novel.更多还原
