Clinical Experience and Modern Research of Professor Shi Qi in Treating Chronic Low Back Pain from the Perspective of “Blood Stasis”
【Abstract】 Chronic low back pain is one of the most prevalent chronic conditions worldwide. Both traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) and modern medicine have systematically explored its etiology and treatment from different perspectives.Professor Shi Qi,a master of TCM,builds upon the classical theory of “Qi deficiency and blood stasis” and integrates advances in modern disciplines such as biomechanics and molecular biology to propose the method of “benefiting Qi and activating blood circulation”. This approach provides a novel theoretical framework and clinical pathway for understanding the etiology, diagnostic evaluation, and comprehensive management of chronic low back pain. By incorporating modern imaging techniques and biomarker detection, this approach facilitates individualized diagnosis and treatment, highlighting the clinical significance of harmonizing Qi and blood as well as maintaining a holistic and dynamic perspective. The herbal formula “Jin Bi Fang”,developed based on blood stasis theory, has demonstrated significant clinical efficacy in alleviating low back pain and improving lumbar function. Future research should elucidate the underlying molecular mechanisms, optimize individualized therapeutic strategies, and conduct high-quality clinical trials to promote the modernization and internationalization of TCM in the prevention and treatment of chronic low back pain.
