Observation on the effect of systematic feeding training on dysphagia in elderly patients with dementia and stroke
【Abstract】 Objective To explore the application effect of systematic feeding training in elderly dysphagiain patients with dementia and stroke. Methods A total of 60 elderly patients with dementia and stroke accompanied by dysphagia admitted in our hospital from October 2021 to October 2023 were selected as the research objects. The patients were randomly divided into control group(n=30, routine training treatment)and observation group(n=30, systematic feeding training treatment on the basis of the control group). The therapeutic effects of the two groups were compared. Results After treatment, the scores of Eating Assessment Tool-10(EAT-10) and Watian drinking water test in the two groups decreased, and those in the observation group were lower than the control group(P<0.05). After treatment, the total protein, albumin, transferrin levels and Swallowing Quality of Life Questionnaire(SWAL-QOL) score in the two groups increased, and those in the observation group were higher than the control group(P<0.05). The total incidence of adverse events in the observation group was 6.67%, which was lower than 16.67% in the control group(P<0.05). Conclusion Systematic feeding training has a significant effect on dysphagia in elderly patients with dementia and stroke. It can ameliorate the swallowing function of patients, improve the nutritional status and quality of life of the body, and reduce the incidence of adverse events.
