【Abstract】 Pathogen infection and non-pathogenic factors can trigger immune responses, leading to eye inflammation. The cyclic guanosine monophosphate-adenosine monophosphate synthase(cGAS)-stimulator of interferon genes(STING) pathway is a recently discovered inflammatory signaling pathway that recognizes double-stranded DNA as an activation signal to promote the expression of downstream cytokines in inflammatory or autoimmune responses.More and more evidence has shown that the cGAS-STING signaling pathway plays a key role in mediating ocular inflammation and inflammatory diseases, including dry eye, keratitis, uveitis, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, and age-related macular degeneration. This article reviews the research on the role of the cGAS-STING pathway in eye diseases, in order to provide guidance for the pathogenesis and molecular targets of eye diseases.
