【Abstract】 Objective To investigate the current status of omnimedia health science popularization practice among nursing undergraduates, analyze factors promoting and hindering their participation, and understand their training needs during undergraduate studies. Methods Nursing undergraduates in Anhui Province were selected as study participants using convenience sampling. A self-developed questionnaire titled “Current Status of Omnimedia Health Science Popularization Practice Among Nursing Undergraduates” was administered via the Wenjuanxing platform. Results A total of 863 respondents were included. Only 184(21.3%) participated in omnimedia health science popularization activities, among whom 138(75.0%) primarily created text-based content, and 154(83.7%) targeted adolescents. The primary purposes were to popularize health knowledge, scientific health concepts, and essential skills. Among all respondents, 319(37.00%) were aware of domestic science popularization policies; 803(93.00%) recognized the importance of omnimedia health science popularization; 659(76.40%) expressed willingness to prepare for such activities; 748(86.70%) were willing to encourage peers to participate; and 785(91.00%) believed schools should offer related training courses. Multivariate regression analysis showed that knowledge of science popularization policies [OR=5.419, 95% CI: 3.754-7.823] and participation in innovation and entrepreneurship competitions or activities [OR=3.060, 95% CI: 1.988-4.708] were influential factors. The top three obstacles selected by students were insufficient professional knowledge, lack of multimedia application skills, and insufficient time and energy. Conclusions The proportion of nursing undergraduates engaged in omnimedia health science popularization is relatively low; however, participation rates are higher among those aware of science popularization policies and those who have participated in innovation and entrepreneurship competitions or activities. It is recommended that colleges and universities offer science popularization training courses, publicize relevant policies, develop nursing students’ competencies in health science popularization, provide sufficient creative space and practical opportunities, and support the creation and publication of high-quality health science popularization works.
