【Abstract】 Existing studies treat housing as common family property but overlook how housing ownership affects fertility, particularly the role of property rights in fertility. The study finds that women with housing property rights are more active in fertility than renters. Compared with husband-owned housing,wife-owned housing exerts an inhibitory effect on youth fertility. Meanwhile,joint-name registration by both spouses significantly improves youth fertility behaviors relative to single-name registration. This paper offers a new perspective of modern egalitarian norms for understanding the connection between housing and fertility.
