Exploring the Connotation of Yin and Yang in the Six Meridians from the Huangdi Neijing
【Abstract】 To explore the connotation of Yin and Yang in the six meridians based on the Huangdi Neijing, resolve the debate on the amount of Yin and the six meridians, promote the inheritance of basic theories of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and better guide clinical practice. Through studying the Huangdi Neijing, the process of the formation of Yin and Yang in the six meridians was briefly described, and the specific connotation and quantitative relationship between Yin and Yangin the six meridians, especially the Yangming meridianand the Jueyin meridian, were analyzed. The formation of Yin and Yang in the six meridians went through the development process of two Yin and two Yang, three Yin and two Yang, and three Yin and three Yang. The Yang Qi of the Taiyang meridian is more abundant than that of the Shaoyang meridian. The Yangming meridian is characterized by “the combination of the two Yang meridians”, “the mother of the twelve meridians”, “the sea of the five Zang and the six Fu”, “bloodabundance and Qi abundance”, and “the excessive of blood and Qi”, so, the Yang Qi is above that of Taiyang meridian and Shaoyang meridian. The Yin Qi of the Taiyin meridian is more than that of the Shaoyin meridian. The Jueyin meridian is characterized by “the combination of the two Yin meridians”, “the closure of the three Yin meridians”, “the peak of Yin”, “the noYang of Yin”, “excessive blood and insufficient Qi”, so, The Yin Qi is above that of Taiyin meridian and Shaoyin meridian. Among the Yin and Yang in the six meridians, the Yangming meridian has the highest Yang Qi, followed by the Taiyang meridian, and the Shaoyang meridian has the least; the Jueyin meridian has the highest Yin Qi, the Taiyin meridian takes the second place, and the Shaoyin meridian has the least.
