Simulation Analysis of Tool Wear and Its Impact in Machining Ti3Al2.5V Titanium Alloy
【Abstract】 This study delves into the complexities of tool wear during the machining of Ti3Al2.5V titanium alloy, leveraging numerical simulation methodologies. Given its extensive utilization in the aviation industry and the inherent challenges posed by its machining, this research underscores the criticality of preserving surface integrity to meet the high fatigue durability demands of aircraft components. It highlights the necessity of judiciously selecting machining parameters to mitigate the adverse impacts of tool wear. As the machining process unfolds, tool wear inevitably modifies the tools′ geometric contours, influencing essential machining parameters such as force, temperature, and stress. To systematically examine the repercussions of tool wear on these pivotal aspects, a finite element model was meticulously formulated. The outcomes shed light on how tool wear can affect machining efficacy and quality, offering a scientific rationale for the strategic replacement of tools. This, in turn, opens avenues for enhancing the machining performance of titanium alloys by optimizing machining parameters.
