【Abstract】 As an innovative human-computer interaction technology, motor imagery brain computer interface(MI-BCI) has demonstrated significant potential in the rehabilitation of neurological disorders in recent years, particularly for stroke and spinal cord injury rehabilitation. This study employs a literature review methodology to systematically examine the research and application value of MI-BCI in stroke and spinal cord injury rehabilitation. In stroke rehabilitation, MI-BCI technology captures motor imagery signals from patients’ brains to enable interactive control with external rehabilitation devices, thereby assisting patients in relearning and restoring limb motor function. For spinal cord injury rehabilitation, MI-BCI technology decodes patients’ electroencephalographic signals to drive external assistive devices, providing opportunities for active rehabilitation training. Future research will focus on technological optimization and improvement, expansion of clinical applications, and addressing ethical and safety concerns. Future research should focus on optimising and improving the technology, expanding the clinical application, ethics and safety, etc., so as to make the application of MI-BCI in the field of neurological rehabilitation more mature, efficient and safe, and to bring more patients effective rehabilitation results, and to promote the sustainable development of this technology in the field of medical rehabilitation.
