人工智能对收入不平等是否存在马太效应——基于微观数据的实证检验
Does Artificial Intelligence Have the Matthew Effect on Income Inequality——Empirical Evidence Based on Micro-Data
【摘要】 基于2014—2022年中国家庭追踪调查和城市统计年鉴数据,采用面板数据模型与双重差分法,系统考察人工智能对收入不平等的影响。研究发现:人工智能显著加剧了收入不平等;技能溢价效应和劳动力挤出效应是人工智能加剧收入不平等的重要实现路径;人工智能加剧了低收入群体、低学历劳动者及非创业人群的收入不平等;人工智能对农村地区及中西部地区的收入冲击更为显著,呈现出“强者愈强”的马太效应。研究结论为缓解人工智能发展带来的收入不平等问题提供了政策依据。
【Abstract】 Based on data from the China Family Panel Studies(CFPS) and urban statistical yearbooks from 2014 to 2022, this study systematically examined the impact of artificial intelligence on income inequality using panel data models and the difference-indifferences(DID) method. The results revealed that the development of artificial intelligence(AI) has significantly exacerbated income inequality. The skill premium effect and labor displacement effect were key mechanisms that intensified income inequality. AI has exacerbated income inequality, particularly affecting low-income groups, less-educated workers, and non-entrepreneurial individuals.Its impact was more pronounced in rural areas and the central/western regions, demonstrating the Matthew Effect——a cumulative advantage that widened disparities. The research provided a policy rationale for addressing income inequality resulting from AI development.
