Since the beginning of the modern era, eminent Chinese music theorists who are proficient in both Chinese and Western traditions have emphasized the primacy of music practice.Academic case studies demonstrate that research grounded in music practice yields more reliable methodologies, academically rigorous outcomes, and credible conclusions. The deeper the engagement in music practice, the more profoundly one is capable to comprehend the essence of music phenomena and issues.Furthermore, the sophistication of music practice determines the profundity of music theory.
