【Abstract】 Fujian has an important strategic location for foreign exchange in South China, serving as a gateway between China and overseas. These special geographical conditions have no doubt influenced contemporary regional architecture and local practices. An inherent and adaptive relationship has evolved between contemporary Fujian architecture and the regional environment. Moreover, architectural objects with distinct local characteristics have emerged through the building of specific local knowledge and a unique interplay with the external environment.Based on an analysis of the human-environment relationship and topophilia, the interpretation and creation of contemporary local architecture in Fujian and the notion of "localization" were analyzed through a case study. The concepts of "nostalgia" and "reform" as well as regional architectural styles and overall characteristics were examined. Based on the local consciousness and community and contemporary regional architecture in Fujian, this study discussed localization and adaptive expression within the framework of topophilia and local conceptual expression. On this basis, a distinct consciousness and discourse for "New Fujian Architecture" was proposed in this study, which could be adapted to other regions and used as a guide. Furthermore, the cultural context for regional architecture in Fujian and the evolution of theoretical discourse in the four decades since the reform were discussed. Additionally, the practices and theoretical reflections of local architects and extraterritorial architects on local architectural creation in Fujian were considered.Due to the dual influence of regional context and modern consciousness, contemporary regional architecture in Fujian not only draws upon local wisdom containing a strong local attachment and cultural identity but also reflects the innovative spirit of the current era defined by the qualities of open integration and diverse coexistence. Despite the increasing convergence of global architectural culture, modern examples of regional architecture with local characteristics such as that in Fujian can be preserved by paying attention to the modern expression of architectural regionality, which can represent the collective value system of local or extraterritorial architects. "New Fujian Architecture" provides an important means of expression for architects seeking to create a regional identity and can provide references for further self-exploration of regional architectural objects更多还原
