【Abstract】 This paper focuses on how to scientifically understand the formation, development and innovation of socialist political economy with Chinese characteristics, and puts forward six theoretical issues that need to be well grasped. From the perspective of the current development status: It is still a developing political economy, which is not mature, perfect or stereotyped. From the perspective of theoretical origin: It is Marxist political economy, and it is necessary to adhere to the basic principles, positions, viewpoints and methods of Marxism. From the perspective of research topics: It is closely adhering to the socialist production relations, analyze and reveal the laws governing the formation, changes and development of China’s production relations. From the perspective of the fundamental thread: It is always centering on the development philosophy of putting people at the center, reflecting the political stance, value orientation and fundamental purpose of the Chinese Communists, and committed to promoting the all-round development of people and common prosperity. From the perspective of distinct features: It creatively proposed the theory of socialist market economy, emphasizing the decisive role of the market in allocating resources and better leveraging the role of the government.
