【摘要】 2000年以来全国高校中成立的一批国学院,无疑是二十世纪90年代以来“国学热”激荡的结果。然而,新世纪国学的“户口”难题——即国学学位缺失的问题——很快就成为制约实体国学院发展的瓶颈,于是将“国学”改称作“中国古典学”的建议便应运而生,希望通过这样的转身借西方“古典学”之名为国学研究在现代学科中找到一席之地。但持此建议者似乎高估了古典学在西方现代教育中的地位而没有注意到古典学研究在西方没落和转型。本文即是对前些年国学和古典学发展逻辑和动态的检讨,并希望通过这样的检讨,为当下国学和古典学内涵的界定及其作为现代研究学科在中国的发展提供一些思考的依据。更多还原

【Abstract】 The emerge of guoxue institutes in Chinese universities since 2000 seems to be a continuation of the popularity of classical learning throughout China since the 1990s.However,those guoxue institutes soon find themselves confronted by the fact that guoxue has not been considered as a modern Chinese academic subject by definition through which students could earn a degree after a few years’ training.To get out of such difficult situation,some scholars propose that it is necessary to replace the term guoxue with that of Classical Studies and hope that the newly established guoxue institutes may constitute a modern subject by being associated with Western Classical Studies.In doing this,it seems that this group of scholars tend to overestimate the influence of Classical Studies in a modern educational system and have neglected the serious decline of Classical Studies in both European and North American schools and universities in the past century.An examination of the development of guoxue institutes in China since 2000 and the decline of Classical Studies in the West in this article focuses on the major issues facing both guoxue and Chinese Classical Studies in contemporary China with the hope to help recalibrate their development in a modern academic framework.更多还原
