【Abstract】 The rapid development of emerging outdoor sports and consumer culture has led to the rise of communities for tourism migrants with special interest in particular outdoor sports. Based on a case study of Yangshuo rock climbing community, which consists of rock climbing migrants, this study uses qualitative research methods to explore the characteristics and cyclical reproduction mechanism of the of the neo-tribe. The findings reveal that Yangshuo rock climbing community functions as a neo-tribe rooted in the place, deeply connected to the locale and united by shared interests and life philosophies. The community is characterized by professional boundaries within the rock climbing “circle”, a collective etho of contribution, and public norms aimed at maintaining climbing conditions and order. The emotional and capability-based “support-feedback” mechanism between the community and its members facilitates the regeneration of this neo-tribe. The emotional support provided by the community fosters a sense of “home” among members, which in turn drives their reciprocal contributions. Additionally, the transmission of skills and knowledge from the community to its members supports their growth and development, potentially creating a foundation for members to give back. This study expands the understanding of tourism neo-tribe and special interest tourism, offering valuable insights into the development and management of outdoor sports tourism.
