【Abstract】 This study explores the application and promotion strategies of ornamental plants in rural landscapes.The research finds that ornamental plants not only enhance the visual appeal of rural areas but also purify the air through photosynthesis, regulate climate, prevent soil erosion, maintain ecological balance, and provide habitats for birds and insects, promoting the healthy development of ecosystems. Additionally, ornamental plants improve the quality of life for rural residents, increase the attractiveness of rural tourism, and stimulate local economic development. However, challenges such as high economic costs, insufficient technology and management, and low community participation remain in the promotion process. Future research should focus on cost-effective planting and management methods, enhance understanding of the ecological and biological characteristics of ornamental plants, and promote technological innovation, especially the application of smart horticulture technologies and biodiversity conservation techniques. Governments should formulate supportive policies such as financial subsidies,technical training, and community cooperation to promote the use of ornamental plants in rural landscapes. Moreover, scientific planning and design should be carried out according to the specific conditions of rural landscapes,choosing plant species that are suitable for local environmental conditions, and integrating other landscape elements to ensure optimal beautification and ecological benefits.
