【Abstract】 Yu the Great′s taming of the floods laid the foundation for Chinese civilization and gave rise to the spirit of Yu the Great′s flood control. From Ximen Bao′s governance of Ye during the Warring States period to Lin Zexu′s water management and farming in Xinjiang during the late Qing Dynasty, the spirit of Yu the Great′s flood control has been passed down from generation to generation in the more than 5 000 years′ history of the Chinese nation. Since the founding of the People′s Republic of China, the Communist Party of China has led the Chinese people to comprehensively and systematically harness major rivers such as the Huai River, the Hai River, the Yellow River, the Yangtze River, and built the Red Flag Canal. These accomplishments have mitigated the perennial threat of floods — a persistent challenge throughout China′s history, thereby shielding the Chinese people from the devastating floods and waterlogging that once afflicted the pre-modern era. Such monumental success represents a milestone in the history of water management. The great achievements of the Communist Party of China in leading the Chinese people in water control have successfully inherited the spirit of Yu the Great′s flood control for the people.更多还原
