【Abstract】 Innovation is crucial for firms to achieve sustained competitive advantage in dynamic environments. Based on the Upper Echelons Theory, the impact and mechanisms of humble directors on corporate innovation were empirically examined using data from Chinese listed companies from 2010 to 2022.The findings reveal that humble directors significantly promote corporate innovation, with this conclusion remaining robust after a series of robustness tests. Mechanism analysis shows that humble directors foster innovation by enhancing strategic aggressiveness, improving innovation efficiency and mitigating managerial myopia. Additionally, financial distress negatively moderates the relationship between humble directors and corporate innovation.更多还原
