【Abstract】 Admiring Silence is a work by Tanzanian-British author Abdulrazak Gurnah. Gurnah’s 2021 Nobel Prize in Literature has drawn global attention to African English literature and diasporic literature. As a significant literary genre, diasporic literature highlights the struggles of individuals navigating between two cultures. This study examines the protagonist of Admiring Silence as he grapples with conflicts in individual, cultural, ethnic,and national identity across his adoptive home in Britain and his native Zanzibar. It analyzes the ambivalence and identity crises he experiences during this cross-cultural search, exploring the root causes of these tensions. Through this analysis, the study illuminates the phenomenon of identity crises among diasporic individuals, offering insights into the complexities of cultural belonging in transnational contexts.更多还原
